Dajia, located in the northwest corner of Taichung, is not only famous for its Mazu Temple and local delicacies, but also for the Tieshan Mountain Scenic Area, which gathers natural landscapes and cultural history. This place has been known for many legends since ancient times. It was once listed as one of the eight scenic spots in central Taiwan. It is also a landmark of Dajia and the dividing line between the north and south climates of Taiwan. There is a flat conical plain of dozens of square kilometers on the top of the mountain, which looks like a giant anvil from a distance, hence the name.
Tieshan Mountain was formerly known as "Yinding Mountain". At first glance, it always makes people mistakenly think that it is a treasure mountain, but in fact it has a dangerous terrain. It was a military stronghold in the past and the only commanding height in Dajia area. Although it is only 236 meters above sea level, it is the highest mountain on the western coast of Taiwan. There are historical sites full of legendary and cultural colors, such as the Jianjing built in the Ming Dynasty, the Guosheng Temple built in the Qing Dynasty, the Anti-Japanese landmark Jiangshan Wanli Monument, and modern abandoned military bunkers.
In the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, local residents built the Guosheng Temple to commemorate Zheng Chenggong's achievements. The temple is dedicated to Yanping County King Zheng Chenggong. The temple has been rebuilt many times. The current building combines historical and modern styles, making it an important place for tourists to remember history.
In addition, Tiezhenshan also has the beautiful scenery of "Tiezhenshan Sunset", which was once listed as one of the eight scenic spots in central Taiwan. There is a Wanghai Pavilion on the mountain, which can overlook Dajia Plain and Daan Port. At dusk, the sea is dotted with fishing lights, which is very charming.
In recent years, the Tiezhenshan Scenic Area has been renovated and added with sculpture parks, Jianjing trails and other facilities, combining natural landscapes and cultural history, making it an important tourist attraction in the coastal area of Taichung.
One day at the end of December, I returned to Taichung and went to Tiezhenshan in Dajia for a hike. Although Tiezhenshan is a small Baiyue, you can almost reach the top of the mountain by car, which is inevitably a bit boring for people who like hiking, but connecting the surrounding trails and attractions to take an O-shaped route will be much more interesting.
To go to Tiezhenshan Scenic Area for a circular route, it is generally to start from Jianjing, but there is no parking lot near here, you can only find a place where there is no red line to park temporarily on the side of the road. Today, I temporarily parked my car in the open space in front of the Tudi Gong Temple a little below (about five minutes walk to Jianjing), or further down, there is a Miaofa Temple, and there is a small open space near the entrance of the temple where you can park several cars (but it will take a little longer to walk up to Jianjing).
